Our Story
The Wee Knot Block is a small family business based in Aberfeldy, Scotland, run by husband and wife team Richard (Biscuit) and Sarah Turner.
As an adventure sports coach, Biscuit has always enjoyed knots. The idea for the knot block had been lurking in his head for some years and was originally hand carved to enable their daughters to experiment, play and learn about knots.
Wife Sarah thought we couldn’t keep this brilliant piece of kit to ourselves and so the Wee Knot Block was formed to share this simple but effective learning resource and toy with the world through schools, clubs, scouts and a great gift idea for outdoorsy folk. Or non-outdoorsy folk who just love knots.
The Wee Knot Block is manufactured by The Workshop Aberfeldy, a brilliant social enterprise in Aberfeldy who are on a mission to support young and disadvantaged people into employment. Every purchase genuinely helps them to transform people’s lives. How good is that!
Once we have the wooden block from The Workshop, Team Turner (and friends sometimes!) cut, seal, thread, knot and pull the ropes into place before packaging them up and sending them out.
The Wee Knot Block is designed to last. You shouldn’t need to replace it but you might find yourself wanting to buy some more for other lucky people in your lives!
